Upon completion of this course, surgeons will have better understanding of the following as they apply to patient care:
• Total laparoscopic hysterectomy: four techniques
• Advanced laparoscopic procedures: enterocele repair, uterosacral ligament plication, ureterolysis and bowel resection for endometriosis, cystoscopy, appendectomy
• Laparoscopic radical hysterectomy, transperitoneal pelvic and retroperitoneal aortic node dissections, omentectomy, and staging of malignancies
• Laparoscopic surgery for the very obese, the very large mass, and the very large uterus
• Anesthetic implications of steep trendelenberg and pneumoperitoneum
• Avoidance and management of intestinal and urological injury
• Use of TOT, TVT and meshes for incontinence or prolapse
• Ethical issues of incorporating new skills into practice
