2009 COURSE
Designed for gynecologic surgeons and oncologists, this intensive 'how to' course will demonstrate four techniques of total laparoscopic hysterectomy and many advanced laparoscopic and vaginal support procedures using slides, videos, pelvic trainers and an optional cadaver lab.
EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES
Upon completion of this course, surgeons will have better understanding of the following as they apply to patient care:
- Total laparoscopic hysterectomy: four techniques
- Advanced laparoscopic procedures: enterocele repair, uterosacral ligament plication, ureterolysis and bowel resection for endometriosis, cystoscopy, appendectomy
- Laparoscopic radical hysterectomy, transperitoneal pelvic and retroperitoneal aortic node dissections, omentectomy, and staging of malignancies
- Laparoscopic surgery for the very obese, the very large mass, and the very large uterus
- Anesthetic implications of steep trendelenberg and pneumoperitoneum
- Avoidance and management of intestinal and urological injury
- Use of TOT, TVT and meshes for incontinence or prolapse
- Ethical issues of incorporating new skills into practice
